What is a rare occurrence is when that walk scores a runner from first. Ian Kinsler was that runner in the first inning of a Tigers-Angels game on Sunday.
Kinsler took off on a full-count pitch to Cabrera. The pitched landed low for ball four rendering the stolen-base attempt moot. Only Angels catcher Hank Conger, in anticipation of a “strike-‘em-out, throw-‘em-out” scenario, chucked the ball into center field.
