Detroit Tigers’ Ian Kinsler loses cool, gets ejected (VIDEO)
Pressure is mounting for the struggling Tigers and frustrations were evident during the weekend series against Baltimore.
During the third inning of Sunday's matchup with the O's, second baseman Ian Kinsler was ejected after slamming his bat down in disgust when he hit a fly ball.
It didn't take long for home plate umpire Manny Gonzalez to give Kinsler the heave-ho as he bashed his bat into the ground twice on the way to first — before the ball was even caught.
Check it out:
"The ejection was because of the bat,'' Crew chief Fieldin Culbreth said after the game. "Kinsler slammed the bat on the ground, breaking it, and then he threw the rest of the bat in Manny's direction. That was when he was ejected.''
Kinsler appeared with Gonzalez earlier in the at-bat when a 2-0 pitch was called a strike. He stepped away from the batter's box and took his helmet off and took his time before stepping back in.
The ejection was the eighth of Kinsler's career.
