Brewers’ Weeks out with sprained finger

Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks is out of Saturday’s lineup

against the Houston Astros after spraining his left pinkie finger

sliding into second base on a steal Friday.

Weeks was hurt in the sixth. He scored later in the inning, but

did not return to the field in the seventh and was replaced by

veteran infielder Craig Counsell.

Counsell is also replacing him in Saturday night’s game against

the Astros.

Weeks says he plans to return Sunday and manager Ron Roenicke

says Weeks is available as a pinch hitter. Weeks is hitting .269

with four homers and seven RBIs in 19 games this season.
