Youkilis doesn’t have bone break

Red Sox slugger Kevin Youkilis was set for more evaluation on his shin ahead of Friday night’s game with the Los Angeles Angels after being cleared of a feared bone break following the teams’ game Thursday night.

Youkilis was forced to leave Boston’s 4-2 victory over the Angels in the bottom of the second after earlier fouling a ball off his left leg, MLB.com reported Friday.

But Red Sox manager Terry Francona said later scans cleared the cleanup-hitting third baseman of serious injury.

"He was X-rayed and they were negative, which is good. He’ll be re-evaluated [Friday]. He’s pretty sore," he added.
