History was made 40 years ago when Atlanta’s Hank Aaron hit his 715th career home run against the LA Dodgers and surpassed Babe Ruth to become the MLB’s sole all-time home run record holder.

If that’s not cool enough, the April 8, 1974, run was called by Dodgers announcer Vin Scully.

MLB.com released this video blast from the past in honor of "Henry" Aaron’s 40th anniversary of the event, in which Scully’s dulcet, now iconic voice adds a poignant soundtrack to this already historic moment. "Ten minutes after 9 in Atlanta, Ga., Henry Aaron has eclipsed the mark set by Babe Ruth," Scully announced.
