Marte went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in a 6-5 loss against the Cardinals on Wednesday.
He isn't doing all that well average-wise, and Marte did ground out with the tying run at third base to end Wednesday afternoon's game, but four of the five hits he's managed since the All-Star break have been home runs. Overall, Marte is batting .275 with 16 homers, 52 RBI, 59 runs and 13 steals in 353 at-bats this season.
Marte went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in a 10-4 loss to the Cubs on Saturday.
The homers give him three in the last two games and 15 thus far in 2019. Marte entered Saturday with a career-best 3.6 home-run percentage -- higher than his career mark of 2.6. He's also on pace to reach the 20 HR/20 SB level for the second straight year with 13 stolen bases to his credit. Marte finished with 20 homers and 33 steals in 2018.
Marte went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in a 4-3 loss against the Cubs on Friday.
The Pirates mustered virtually zero offense through seven innings and gave up three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Marte came through with two aboard in the eighth to tie the game. The Cubs still won, but Marte is off to a strong start to the second half. He is hitting .278 with 13 home runs, 48 RBI, 55 runs and 13 stolen bases in 334 at-bats this season.
Marte went 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBI in Saturday's 12-2 win over Milwaukee.
Although the extra-base hit was just his fourth since June 23, he does have 12 hits in his last 29 at-bats. Marte is also 15-for-32 against Sunday's starter Chase Anderson as he looks to continue his hot stretch into the All-Star break.
Marte went 1-for-5 with a walk, a steal, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 18-5 victory over the Cubs.
Marte opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning and grabbed his 13th steal of the season immediately afterwards. He scored on a Josh Bell homer later in that frame and again on a Corey Dickerson double in the fifth inning. Marte is now hitting .313/.352/.527 over his last 27 games.
