Castillo (11-5) was saddled with the loss after allowing eight runs on nine hits while striking out three over 4.1 innings Friday night against the Cardinals.
Castillo never settled into this one, surrendering one run in the first inning, followed by three in the second, two in the third and two more in the fifth. He struggled to keep the ball in the park, as seven of his eight runs allowed came via the long ball. Despite an uncharacteristic outing, Castillo sports a 3.10 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with a 175:61 K:BB over 148 frames in 2019.
Castillo gave up three runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out eight through 6.2 innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Sunday.
Castillo looked to be cruising until running into trouble in the seventh inning, eventually leading to his exit and a loss for the Reds. After dominating with his changeup in his last start, he collected another 10 swinging strikes and threw his changeup more than any other pitch. Castillo has a 2.69 ERA and 172 strikeouts through 24 starts this season. Castillo will make his next start Friday against the Cardinals at Great American Ball Park.
Castillo (11-4) picked up the win after surrendering two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out 13 over seven innings Monday against the Angels.
Castillo gave up a pair of solo homers in the second and third innings, but he was otherwise locked in Monday evening. The 26-year-old right-hander has now secured back-to-back victories, yielding just three runs while fanning 20 over his last two starts (14 innings).
Castillo (10-4) allowed one run on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts across seven innings while earning a victory against the Pirates on Wednesday.
After giving up a season-high six runs in his last outing, this was a great bounceback effort and could have been expected, given that Castillo owns a 1.50 ERA against the Pirates this season. Overall, Castillo's been one of the better starting pitching fantasy assets this season, as he has posted a 2.63 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 151 strikeouts in 130 innings this season. Castillo will look to build off this outing in his next start Monday against the Angels at home.
