Homers off bench Friday Mateo went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 24-8 win over Washington.

Impact The 26-year-old was brought into the lopsided contest as a pinch hitter for Manny Machado in the sixth inning. Mateo would put the cherry on top of San Diego's franchise-best run total with his ninth-inning blast. It was just his second homer in 91 plate appearances this year. Mateo has added six RBI, nine runs scored and three stolen bases as a depth option this year.
