Impact Wendle will return to the lineup Friday after missing the entire month of June. His return comes at a good time considering Jorge Soler (back) was placed on the 10-day IL earlier in the day. Wendle has produced a .284 average with two homers, 11 RBI, 12 runs and four stolen bases over 88 at-bats in 29 games this season.

Rehab assignment begins Saturday Wendle (hamstring) will serve as the designated hitter during a rehab game at Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact Wendle has been sidelined since the beginning of June due to his hamstring injury, but he'll be able to return to game action with the minor-league club this weekend. It's possible that the 32-year-old will require multiple rehab games, but it seems likely that he'll rejoin the Marlins sometime next week. Brian Anderson (back) is also in Jacksonville on a rehab assignment, and it's not yet clear how the playing time will be dished out once Anderson, Wendle and Jon Berti are all at full health.

Impact In addition to Wendle, Brian Anderson (back) is also likely to begin playing in rehab games in the days to come, but neither player should be expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list for the Marlins' weekend series with the Mets. When both have been healthy this season, Wendle and Anderson have formed a platoon at third base, but it's unclear if manager Don Mattingly will stick with that arrangement once the two players are activated. Jon Berti has been a revelation as the Marlins' everyday third baseman thus far in June and has been a godsend for fantasy managers by hitting .300 while going 14-for-14 on stolen-base attempts through 18 games this month.
