Taking seat Wednesday
Arroyo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.
Impact
Since being called up from Triple-A Louisville on June 1, Arroyo has started in six of the Reds' ensuing nine games but hasn't gotten going at the plate. Spencer Steer will get the nod at second base Wednesday over Arroyo, who has begun his big-league career by going 5-for-22 (.227 average) with no extra-base hits and a 2:9 BB:K. He'll need to raise his production if he hopes to stick around with the big club once Elly De La Cruz (hamstring) is ready to return from the injured list.

Sitting Saturday
Arroyo isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against St. Louis.
Impact
Arroyo will take a seat Saturday after going 2-for-10 with two walks and six strikeouts across his first four games as an MLB player. Spencer Steer will start at second base in Arroyo's stead, and Noelvi Marte will enter the starting nine as Cincinnati's right fielder.

Hitting eighth in MLB debut
Arroyo will start at second base and bat eighth in his major-league debut Monday against the Royals.
Impact
Arroyo was called up earlier Monday to take the roster spot of the injured Elly De La Cruz (hamstring). It will be Matt McLain sliding over to shortstop Monday to cover for Cruz, while Arroyo will settle in at McLain's old second-base spot. Arroyo earned a promotion after hitting .323/.383/.562 with 11 home runs and nine stolen bases for Louisville.

Moving up to majors
The Reds recalled Arroyo from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Impact
With Elly De La Cruz (hamstring) landing on the 10-day injured list, the Reds will bring the 22-year-old Arroyo aboard for his first taste of the big leagues. The switch-hitting infielder had received reps at three different positions during his time at Triple-A, but he'll likely settle in as the Reds' everyday shortstop for the duration of De La Cruz's stint on the shelf. Even before De La Cruz injured his hamstring in Sunday's 6-4 win over Atlanta, Arroyo had already been building a strong case for a promotion by slashing .323/.383/.562 with 11 home runs and nine stolen bases across 248 plate appearances. Arroyo is worthy of at least a cursory pickup in most fantasy leagues while a full-time role likely awaits him.

Getting look at third base
Arroyo has started to get some reps at third base at Triple-A Louisville, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox19.com reports.
Impact
Arroyo has always been known as a good fielding prospect, with his primary position still being second base. But the bat has been slow to come around, especially in terms of his power after a shoulder injury wiped out his 2024 campaign. So far at Triple-A he's enjoyed his best year at the plate, hitting .342/.408/.590 with eight homers in 189 plate appearances. Arroyo turns 23 in August, so it's not too late for him to make a major league impact someday.

Heads to minors camp
The Reds optioned Arroyo to minor-league camp Friday.
Impact

Added to 40-man roster
The Reds selected Arroyo's contract from Double-A Chattanooga on Tuesday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Impact
Arroyo slashed .284/.345/.371 with three home runs and 12 stolen bases over 120 games with Chattanooga in 2025 after missing the 2024 campaign due to shoulder labrum surgery. The 22-year-old is now on the 40-man roster and could move up to Triple-A Louisville to begin the 2026 season.

Cut from big-league camp
The Reds reassigned Arroyo to minor-league camp Wednesday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact
The 21-year-old Arroyo is coming off a lost 2024 season following surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, so it's no surprise that he's a relatively early cut by the Reds. Arroyo finished the 2023 campaign at Double-A Chattanooga and is likely headed back there to begin this season.
