Contract selected by Dodgers Alvarez's contract was selected from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Impact He has played shortstop, second base and left field at Triple-A and is hitting .304/.430/.500 with five home runs and three steals in 43 games. This move gives the Dodgers some infield depth following Edwin Rios landing on the injured list with a hamstring tear. Alvarez has minor-league options left, so he could be sent back to Triple-A once Max Muncy (elbow) is activated.

Cast off 40-man roster Alvarez was outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact Alvarez spent the final month of the 2021 campaign with the major-league club and hit .188 with a homer, eight runs, six RBI and a stolen base across 24 games. He'll be removed from the 40-man roster but will likely compete for a major-league roster spot during spring training in 2022.
