Daniel Duarte - Recalled from Louisville The Reds recalled Duarte from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Impact With Ben Lively (pectoral) landing on the injured list Wednesday, Duarte will come up from Triple-A one day after being demoted to clear a spot for Sam Moll. The 26-year-old righty has been unimpressive in middle relief, putting up a 4.30 ERA and 1.57 WHIP through 14.2 innings in the majors this season.
AUGUST 2, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Ben Lively - Placed on injured list The Reds placed Lively on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right pectoral strain.
Impact Lively's pectoral injury could help explain why he allowed 13 earned runs over four innings during Tuesday's blowout loss to the Cubs. The 31-year-old righty will now be sidelined for the next two weeks, meanwhile Daniel Duarte will come up from Triple-A Louisvile to fill Lively's roster spot.

Jake Fraley - Sits against southpaw again Fraley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Impact Fraley will hit the bench for the second game in a row while the Cubs bring another southpaw (Drew Smyly) to the hill. Will Benson will slide over from his usual spot in left field to cover right field in Fraley's stead.
AUGUST 2, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
T.J. Friedl - Hits bench against southpaw Friedl is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Impact The lefty-hitting Friedl will get the evening off with the Cubs bringing a southpaw (Drew Smyly) to the hill. Stuart Fairchild will spell Friedl in center field and bat eighth.
AUGUST 2, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Elly De La Cruz - Heads to bench Wednesday De La Cruz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Impact The standout rookie will sit for just the third time since receiving the call to the majors in early June. Nick Senzel will enter the lineup at third base in place of De La Cruz, who heads to the bench after going 1-for-9 with six strikeouts and a walk between the first two games of the series in Chicago.

Tony Santillan - Working in Triple-A bullpen Santillan has given up four earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven in six innings across six relief appearances for Triple-A Louisville since the Reds optio...
Impact Santillan was summoned from Louisville to serve as the 27th man in the Reds' July 18 doubleheader with the Giants, but he was sent back to the minors a day later. He retains a spot on the 40-man roster and could be in the mix for a call-up later on this season, but the Reds don't have an immediate need for an extra bullpen arm.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand - Drives in two Encarnacion-Strand went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Tuesday's 20-9 loss to the Cubs.
Impact Encarnacion-Strand bounced back from his first stretch of adversity. After a five-game stretch in which the 23-year-old went 1-for-14 with eight strikeouts, Encarnacion-Strand has four hits, three RBI and a run scored without a strikeout in his last two games.

Tyler Stephenson - Swats homer in loss Stephenson went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 20-9 loss to the Cubs.
Impact Stephenson belted his eighth home run of the season in the sixth inning. The homer was his first in 20 games, while the RBI his first in 16 games. Stephenson is slashing .251/.332/.368, well off last season's pace when he had an unsustainable .409 BABIP.

Hunter Greene - Throws in ACL game Greene (hip) threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts in a minor-league rehab start Tuesday for the Arizona Complex League Reds, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquir...
Impact Greene, who made his first rehab start, is due back in about three weeks with estimated return date of Aug. 20. The right-hander is expected to move his rehab to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, per MLB.com. The Reds took some heat at the trade deadline for not adding starting pitching, but the organization feels Greene and Nick Lodolo (leg) -- due back a week or two after Greene -- will be enough.

Ben Lively - Tagged for 13 runs in blowout Lively (4-7) took the loss Tuesday, allowing 13 runs on 13 hits and two walks over four innings in a 20-9 loss to the Cubs. He struck out two.
Impact Lively was roughed up early, allowing five runs before recording an out. The onslaught continued from there, as he gave up multiple runs in each of his four innings. The 31-year-old had been pitching well prior to this start, allowing three earned runs or less in each of his previous six outings. However, allowing 13 earned runs in this game caused Lively's season-long ERA to jump from 3.76 to 5.51. Lively will look to bounce back in his next start, which is tentatively lined up for this weekend against the Nationals.

Daniel Duarte - Optioned to Louisville Duarte was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Sam Moll, acquired from the Athletics on Monday, will take over the vacant bullpen spot. Duarte, 26, has pitched to a 4.30 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 11:10 K:BB in 14.2 innings of relief this season at the major-league level.

Casey Legumina - Moves rehab to Triple-A Legumina (shoulder) shifted his rehab assignment Tuesday from the Arizona Complex League to Triple-A Louisville.
Impact Legumina retried all three batters he faced in his one appearance in the ACL. Seemingly recovered from a bout of shoulder discomfort that originally sent him to the injured list June 21, the 26-year-old right-hander could be an option again for the Reds' bullpen by the end of this week.
AUGUST 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Hunter Greene - Begins rehab assignment Greene (hip) is set to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday in the Arizona Complex League.
Impact Greene has been sidelined since mid-June because of right hip discomfort and is currently on the 60-day injured list, so this figures to be a lengthy minor-league rehab stint. Previous reports have indicated that the Reds are targeting Aug. 20 for his return to the major-league rotation. He is first eligible to be activated Aug. 17.
AUGUST 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
T.J. Friedl - Ends stolen base drought Friedl went 0-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 6-5 win over the Cubs.
Impact Friedl stole his 17th base of the season in the fourth inning, ending a 20-game stretch without a theft. After a spell as the team's primary leadoff hitter, Friedl has been moved to second in the order behind Elly De La Cruz. Since that switch 14 games ago, Friedl is hitting .226 (12-for-53) with one steal (caught twice).
AUGUST 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Spencer Steer - Starts at second base Steer started at second base and went 0-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in Monday's 6-5 win over the Cubs.
Impact Steer made his first start at the keystone and second appearance there this season. The injury to Jonathan India (foot) prompted position juggling for Reds manager David Bell. Matt McLain will be the primary fill-in at second, but it bears monitoring if Steer can squeeze out enough starts for position eligibility. He's also played first base (56 games), third base (33) and left field (19) in 2023.
AUGUST 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Buck Farmer - Grabs relief win Farmer (3-4) was credited with Monday's win over the Cubs. He struck out two over 1.2 hitless and scoreless innings.
Impact Farmer replaced starter Andrew Abbot with one out in the fourth inning and retired all four batters faced, including a double-play to escape the fourth. The outing was Farmer's 50th of the season, tying him for third in majors along with fellow Cincinnati bullpen mates Ian Gibaut and Alexis Diaz. The right-handed Farmer endured a rough patch early in July but has righted himself with three runs allowed and 11 strikeouts over the last 9.1 innings.
