Placed on injured list Taylor (ankle) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Impact Taylor had to be carted off the field Friday against the Mariners due to an ankle that was "severely sprained" according to manager Dusty Baker, so the trip to the injured list isn't a surprise. It's unclear when he'll be able to return. Peter Solomon was called up in a corresponding move.

Dealing with severe sprain Manager Dusty Baker said Saturday that Taylor's ankle is "severely sprained," Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Impact Taylor rolled his ankle while fielding a bunt in the bottom of the eighth inning Friday and had to be carted off the field. He underwent X-rays that came back negative, but he'll still likely spend time on the injured list as a result of his severe sprain. In his first seven relief appearances this season, Taylor has posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.88 WHIP in 5.1 innings.

Carted off field Taylor was carted off the field after rolling his right ankle in Friday's game against the Mariners, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Impact Taylor entered Friday's game in the bottom of the eighth inning and allowed one run on two hits while striking out one in two-thirds of an inning. However, he appeared to be in considerable pain after fielding a bunt from Taylor Trammell, and he was immediately carted off the field. The severity of the injury isn't yet clear.

Stung by long ball Taylor allowed two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning in Friday's 6-2 loss to Oakland.

Impact Taylor was part of an Astros' bullpen that permitted five runs over the second half of the game. He inherited a runner upon entering in the eighth inning with one out and allowed a single then a three-run home run to Matt Olson, a 414-foot shot that landed in the second deck of right field. The right-hander was in the mix of relievers after closer Ryan Pressly, but Taylor has allowed runs in three of five appearances, pitching to a 7.36 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 66.7 strand percentage.

Projected for bullpen Taylor is one of six healthy relievers considered as locks to serve in Astros' bullpen come Opening Day, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Impact Taylor was a useful piece in the bullpen last season for Houston, pitching to a 2.18 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 20.2 innings. He's made just three appearances this spring, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five over three innings. Two of those appearances have come in the sixth inning and the other one in the seventh, which normally aren't the spots managers deploy high-leverage relievers in early-to-mid spring training contests. He's one of two left-handers projected to make the roster -- Brooks Raley being the other -- which puts him in line for any late-game opportunities that may require a southpaw.
