Outrighted off roster Morgan (elbow) was outrighted off the Phillies' 40-man roster Thursday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.

Impact Morgan posted a 5.54 ERA in 13 innings of relief for the Phillies this season before landing on the injured list with shoulder fatigue. After the season, he wound up requiring surgery for an elbow injury. That pair of injuries plus his mediocre 4.84 career ERA mean he won't be a particularly attractive option should he wind up becoming a free agent.

Requires surgery Morgan will undergo surgery Thursday to repair a flexor pronator injury in his left elbow, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Impact Morgan missed time in 2020 while dealing with a shoulder injury, and he didn't have stellar results during his 17 appearances. He posted a 5.54 ERA and career-worst 1.54 WHIP over 13 innings as his velocity has continued to decline over the past several years. Recovery from the surgery usually takes between six and eight months, so the right-hander likely won't be ready for Opening Day in 2021. However, Morgan is expected to pitch at some point next season as long as he doesn't experience any setbacks.

However, he'll be sidelined at least 10 days while he deals with a shoulder issue. Right-hander David Phelps was added to the active roster in a corresponding move.
