"While all the events leading up to the game are a blast, nothing beats the game itself. There is nothing like getting to watch all of baseball’s best play on one field," Kayla said. "Our beloved Clydesdales made an appearance along with the coolest flyover, while Idina Menzel belted the National Anthem. I had chills!"
Kayla enjoyed interacting with fans at the FOX Sports North booth at FanFest — where visitors were able to play broadcaster for a day and read a sportscast off a teleprompter — while soaking up the atmosphere at Target Field. Although nothing compares to Busch Stadium, she said, the home of the Twins was breathtaking, with a killer view of the city.
"I am a total foodie and was extremely impressed with their food selections," Kayla said. "They also have a lot of fun, interactive things fans can do around the stadium such as the ‘Digital Clubhouse.’"
Although the NL didn’t walk away victoriously, Kayla said her trip to Minnesota along with other FOX Sports Girls from around the country was spectacular.
— The All-Star Game marks the midway point of the baseball season. Stan McNeal has a great story looking forward to the second half. I still have a good feeling about these Cardinals, but I know it won’t be an easy ride the rest of the way. Look at it this way: At least we aren’t the only team battling injuries in the Central — one of the toughest divisions, if not the toughest, in all of baseball.
— I cannot believe summer is flying by and that we are already gearing up for football season. This week the best of the best flocked to Alabama for SEC Media Days, and good ol’ Gary Pinkel didn’t disappoint. One of my favorites: "The two great athletes to come out of Akron are Gary Pinkel and LeBron James." Oh, Gary.
VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK
Katie and I were honored to take part in Saturday’s Mission Continues Summer Service Slam at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center. It was such a humbling experience to work alongside men and women who have served our country. And as an outdoors girl who enjoys hiking, I was so happy to give back and work on the trails.
SHOUT-OUT OF THE WEEK
My shoutout this week goes to Mike Shannon. The radio voice of St. Louis baseball celebrated his 75th birthday this week. Happy B-day, and we look forward to many more with you behind the mic!
