Cardinals reduce spring roster to 49 with moves of six players

The St. Louis Cardinals optioned two players to Triple-A Memphis and reassigned four non-roster players to minor league camp, bringing the number of players in major league spring training camp to 49.

The team sent infielder Ramón Urías and outfielder Lane Thomas to Memphis, while pitchers Connor Jones and Jake Woodford and catchers José Godóy and Brian O’Keefe are now in minor league camp.

The big-league roster now includes 33 roster and 16 non-roster players.
