Blues recall Thompson, put Blais on injured reserve

ST. LOUIS -- The Blues' pursuit of offensive punch -- and a healthy roster -- continued Monday when they recalled forward Tage Thompson from San Antonio of the AHL and placed forward Sammy Blais on injured reserve.

Blais has a lower-body injury. He had recently been recalled from the Rampage but left Saturday's win over the Jets early and was scratched from Sunday's rematch in Winnipeg.

Blais, who has a goal and two assists in 10 games with the Blues this season, joins a lengthy list of recently injured Blues players that includes forward Jaden Schwartz and captain Alex Pietrangelo, one of the league's top offensive defensemen, who was activated Sunday after missing four games.

Schwartz's absence since Dec. 9 with an ankle injury has been evident in the Blues' recent offensive drought. The Blues have scored only three goals in their last four games, three of which they lost. Schwartz is expected to miss another five weeks.

Thompson, 20, opened the season with the Blues and played in four games (no points, four penalty minutes) before being assigned to San Antonio. The center has 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in 24 games with the Rampage. Thompson was a first-round draft pick (26th overall) in 2016.
