Mizzou’s Bolton, Cook win SEC weekly awards following win over Kentucky
Linebacker Nick Bolton, who led a stifling defense Saturday, was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week. Right guard Case Cook, an anchor on an offensive line that overpowered Kentucky’s vaunted defensive line, was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. Along the way, Mizzou snapped a five-game losing streak to the Wildcats.
Bolton made seven tackles (all solo) and added a sack and a QB hurry while playing every defensive snap. The Mizzou defense limited Kentucky to just 145 total yards, of which only 47 were through the air, and only 36 plays from scrimmage, all the lowest numbers against Mizzou since the Tigers joined the SEC.
Playing 94 snaps (92 on offense), Cook helped the Tigers dominate time of possession (43:10) and rush for 220 yards. Mizzou was successful on 14 of 25 plays on third and fourth down, and only seven of 92 offensive plays lost yardage.
Mizzou (2-2) next plays at Florida (2-1) on Saturday.
