Cardinals to present Jon Hamm Night at Busch Stadium
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — George Wendt sported a St. Louis Cardinals cap in "Dreamscape." Steven Guttenberg wore a Cardinals jersey in "Police Academy." But when it comes to Hollywood star power, no one sells the Cardinals like Jon Hamm.
Hamm, star of television’s "Mad Men" and a St. Louis native who often can be spotted wearing Cardinals apparel, will be the honored guest when the Cardinals present the first-ever Jon Hamm Night at Busch Stadium on Aug. 18. The event will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
"Jon Hamm is one of the greatest ambassadors for Cardinals baseball," Dan Farrell, the club’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, said in a press release. "Whether he’s photographed walking down the street in his lucky Cardinals cap or talking up the team on late-night television, he’s one of our biggest fans. We’re really looking forward to hosting this event with him."
Hamm, who also stars in the recent baseball movie "Million Dollar Arm," will throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Cardinals taking on the Reds. Fans who purchase a special game ticket will receive an exclusive Jon Hamm bobblehead.
A limited number of VIP ticket packages that include the bobblehead and a photo with Hamm during a pregame meet-and-greet also will be sold.
For each themed ticket sold, a portion of the ticket price will be donated to Hamm’s charity of choice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
"I am beyond thrilled and tremendously honored that the St. Louis Cardinals are having ‘Jon Hamm Night’ at Busch Stadiumm," Hamm, a graduate of John Burroughs High School and the University of Missouri, said in the release. "I have been a fan of the team since before I can remember, and participating in a night like this is simply mind-blowing. I’d like to thank the team, the organization and the fans for participating in what I hope will be a fantastic night for everyone but the Reds."
