After placing six players on the injured list Tuesday, the St. Louis Cardinals summoned reinforcements Wednesday.

The team added four players from its alternate training site in Springfield, recalling pitchers Alex Reyes and Génesis Cabrera and purchasing the contracts of infielder Max Schrock and pitcher Roel Ramirez.

The Cardinals also placed infielder Rangel Ravelo on the IL and announced that catcher Jose Godoy will be added to the major league taxi squad.

The six players put on IL on Tuesday were catcher Yadier Molina, shortstop Paul DeJong, infielder Edmundo Sosa and pitchers Carlos Martínez, Junior Fernández and Kodi Whitley. Ravelo, Molina, DeJong, Sosa, Fernández and Whitley were identified Tuesday as being six of the seven Cardinals who tested positive for COVID-19, leading to the postponement of series with Milwaukee and Detroit in the last week.
