Sporting Kansas City midfielder Felipe Gutierrez has enjoyed a great first month in MLS, scoring a league-leading five goals. And now he has an award that speaks to his stellar play.
Gutierrez, who arrived in Kansas City in February from Spanish side Real Betis, was named MLS Player of the Month for March.
Gutierrez, 27, is the second Kansas City player all-time to notch five goals in the first five matches of a regular season, having scored in all four games of Sporting KC‘s current unbeaten streak. The club is 3-1-1 overall and in first place in the Western Conference.
Gutierrez also leads MLS with three game-winning goals and ranks second in shots on target (10) and tackles won (16) and 11th in duels won (37).
