Colts' Gore, Vinatieri won't use season finale as farewell party

INDIANAPOLIS -- Frank Gore and Adam Vinatieri don't intend to use Sunday's season finale as their retirement party.

The 34-year-old running back and soon-to-be 45-year-old kicker say they'd like to play at least one more season. Neither has ruled out a return to the Indianapolis Colts, either.

Their contracts expire at the end of the season and neither appears to fit in with the youth movement general manager Chris Ballard began last offseason.

But both could serve valuable roles in Indy next season. Only three other running backs are on the Colts' roster and none of them has proven he's ready to supplant Gore as the full-time starter.

Vinatieri is still kicking well and could break the NFL's career scoring record next season.
