Moore and O'Brien dominate Royal Ascot on Friday

ASCOT, England (AP) The trainer-jockey combination of Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore earned a notable double in the feature races at Royal Ascot on Friday.

Moore guided American colt Caravaggio to victory in the Commonwealth Cup then delivered an equally convincing performance aboard Irish filly Winter in the Coronation Stakes.

''Ryan was very confident in him (Caravaggio), he said he was just going to pop him out and let it happen. He said he'd come there very late and that's exactly what he did,'' Irish trainer O'Brien said.

''He's very quick - I don't think we've ever had a quicker horse.''

Moore bided his time in the six-furlong (1,200-meter) Commonwealth Cup as Caravaggio closed on the Godolphin pair Blue Point and Harry Angel before accelerating away over the final half-furlong to justify his favoritism.

Winter, an even shorter-priced favorite at 4-9, dismissed the challenges of Roly Poly and Hydrangea in the one-mile (1,600-meter) Coronation Stakes.

''She's just doing what she has to do,'' Moore said of Winter.

''She's a very good filly and she's beaten some very good horses from France and America.''

There was a surprise winner in the day's opening race as two-year old Different League of France held off favorite Alpha Centauri to win the Group 3 Albany Stakes. The 20-1 shot was ridden by Antoine Hamelin.
