U.S. Junior golfer bets Holly Sonders prom date if he wins tournament
Andrew Orischak gained extra incentive to win the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur after he made a bet with FOX Sports broadcaster Holly Sonders.
Orischak, a Class-of-2017 Virginia commit out of Hilton Head, S.C., bet Sonders that if he wins the U.S. Junior, she will have to accompany him to his senior prom next year at Hilton Head Island High School.
"That’s a motivation," Orischak said. "If I’m feeling a little tired I just think: Holly at prom."
Sonders said during FOX’s broadcast of Orischak’s quarterfinal match with Ryan Grider that Orischak’s father helped make the deal – Andrew, understandably, may have been shy — and she obliged.
Orischak defeated Grider, 3 and 2, setting up a semifinal match with Eugene Hong scheduled to be played this afternoon at Colleton River Plantation Club in Bluffton, S.C.
The kicker? Orischak already has plans to wear a baby blue tuxedo. Only time will tell if Sonders will have to match.
