U.S. Open golfer dunked a pitch shot for an incredibly lucky birdie

Matt Marshall is playing in his first ever U.S. Open this week at Oakmont, and it’s going fairly well thus far. The 31-year-old found himself over the green at No. 4 with a potential chip for birdie.

He didn’t have the best lie as he took a hack at it, popping it out of the rough and straight into the cup — no putter needed.

It was eerily similar to Matthew Fitzpatrick’s dunk on the second hole of his first round on Thursday, which also found the bottom of the cup without a bounce.

Marshall moved to even-par with the birdie through 13 holes.
