Phil Mickelson wore a binder clip to fix a problem with his hat at the Open Championship
Phil Mickelson is having quite the two days at the Open Championship, opening the year’s third major with a record-tying 63 after lipping-out for birdie on 18. He followed up Thursday’s round with another great performance on Friday, shooting 2-under 69 to take the clubhouse lead through two rounds.
He did so in the rain and much poorer weather conditions, which forced him to bust out the binder clip. That’s right, Mickelson put a darn binder clip on the side of his hat for some reason.
He probably did so because his hat became too loose for his liking after the rainy and windy conditions. No one wants to play with a hat that’s constantly falling off, so why not use an office supply to fix it.
There’s just one question that remains: Does Mickelson always carry a binder clip with him? Probably.
