Dawson, Votaw get top international golf roles

Royal and Ancient chief executive Peter Dawson has been

appointed the first president of the International Golf


Ty Votaw, an executive vice president of the PGA Tour, was named

vice president.

Both men will serve two-year terms beginning on Jan. 1 while

continuing in their existing roles with their respective


Dawson has served as joint secretary of the IGF since 1999.

Votaw helped spearhead golf’s successful bid for inclusion in the

2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Antony Scanlon took over as the IGF’s executive director on Nov.


The IGF, founded in 1958, is recognized by the IOC as the

official world body for golf.
