- LONDON - Venus Williams will play Wimbledon, her publicist tells the AP. Florida police say the five-time champion caused a car crash that led to a passenger's death in another vehicle.

- LONDON - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray - the only men to win Wimbledon the last 14 years - could face difficult opponents in the quarterfinals.

- NEW YORK - Sure, Aaron Judge and Bryce Harper will be there for the All-Star Game in Miami. But predicting the full lineups gets a little trickier now that rosters are smaller.

- PEABODY, Mass. - Kirk Triplett has a one-stroke leader over Olin Browne heading into the second round of the U.S. Senior Open.

- NHL free agency starts Saturday. With a relatively weak crop of free agents, teams have to weigh the risk and reward of signing the top players available.

- SOCHI, Russia - An inexperienced Germany team has already exceeded expectations at the Confederations Cup. Its next test comes Sunday in the final against Chile.

- EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - Matt Miazga, a 21-year-old defender, is back with the U.S. national team for Saturday's exhibition against Ghana.

- DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Dale Earnhardt Jr. returns to Daytona International Speedway for Saturday night's race in what could be his best shot at earning a playoff spot.

- DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - NBC picks up its half of the NASCAR schedule beginning with Saturday night's race. Its task: stopping a season-long ratings slide.

- INDIANAPOLIS - Katie Ledecky returns to the pool at the U.S. National Championships. Lilly King tries to win her third race in three nights after setting an American record a day earlier.

- METUCHEN, N.J. - The Jersey Hammerheads are a swim team made up of teenagers on the autism spectrum. A documentary on the team hits movie theaters in July.

- EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - John Campbell makes his final drives at the Meadowlands, the track that helped the Hall of Famer become harness racing's career leader in purses.

- Two-time Olympic high jumper Jamie Nieto is in a wheelchair, recovering from a spinal cord injury after a mistimed flip. He plans to walk down the aisle unassisted at his wedding next month.

- Motocross lost its biggest star with the retirement of Ryan Dungey. The sport has four or five riders who could possibly take over the spotlight, but no one has done so just yet.
