    News

Molinari went out and fired a five-under 66 in the final round of the Open Championship to surge all the way into a tie for 11th place.

    Impact

Safe to say it wasn't the week that last year's Champion Golfer of the Year was looking for. Molinari was able to make the best of it, however, by taking an early tee time on Sunday and shooting the low round of the day before conditions worsened in the afternoon. He would ultimately gain 43 positions from where he finished on Saturday. Molinari is looking to get back to the form he showed in the spring when he scored three top-five's in a four tournament span. He will take next week off and skip the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

Molinari (rest) is listed in the field for this week's Open Championship.

    Impact

Molinari decided to pass on last week's John Deere Classic as he heads to Royal Portrush as the defending champion of the Open, having secured his maiden major victory last year at Carnoustie. The Italian has not posted a single top-15 result since the Masters, however, tying for 57th most recently at the Travelers Championship.

    News

Molinari has elected to skip this week's John Deere Classic, Ron Mintz of MyGolfDaily.com reports.

    Impact

Though Molinari was the runner-up finisher at the event in 2018, he apparently decided that he has already put in sufficient prep work in advance of next week's The Open Championship at Royal Portrush. Once The 148th Open tees off July 18, Molinari will have 25 days of rest since playing his last round on the PGA Tour.
