Florida State had gone 0-6 in the last two ACC tournaments. While the Seminoles didn’t make the championship game in 2014, Florida State went 2-1 and built momentum going into this week’s NCAA Regional.

Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston got the final outs in both of Florida State’s wins at the ACC tournament in Greensboro, N.C.

On Wednesday, Winston pitched a scoreless ninth, allowing a walk and striking out a batter as Florida State defeated North Carolina 7-1. On Saturday, Winston picked up his seventh save of the season, pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings as Florida State defeated Virginia 6-4.

"It felt like regionals, like Omaha, so you love getting wins like that," Winston said after Saturday’s win.

Florida State will now play host to a four-team regional beginning on Friday. The other regional teams will be announced Monday afternoon.

Two of Winston’s teammates, defensive end Chris Casher and cornerback Ronald Darby, met with a Florida State disciplinary board looking into potential violations of the school’s code of conduct on Tuesday. They faced questions after telling police they witnessed Winston have sex with a woman in December 2012. The woman accused Winston of raping her.

Winston’s ERA has fallen to 1.17, the lowest on the team. He has 29 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings and has allowed just four earned runs.

Winston is hitting .132 with two doubles, four RBI and six runs scored.

Winston has made two errors in the field this season.
