Lightning D Matt Carle to undergo surgery, expected to miss 6-8 weeks

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Matt Carle will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair torn adductor muscles in his lower abdomen and is expected to miss six to eight weeks, the team announced Monday.

Carle, 30, has not played since Tampa Bay’s victory over the Edmonton Oilers last Thursday. Dr. William Meyers will perform the procedure in Philadelphia.

Carle, a 10-year veteran, has 14 points and 10 assists in 46 games this season.
