TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers acquired defensive end George Johnson and a seventh-round pick (231st overall) on Wednesday from the Detroit Lions for a fifth-round selection (168th overall).

The trade settles the Lions’ dispute of the Bucs’ offer sheet to Johnson, who was a restricted free agent before the trade Wednesday. Tampa Bay signed Johnson to a three-year, $9 million deal.

Johnson had 26 tackles, six sacks, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery for Detroit last season.
