QB Steven Bench leaving Penn State for South Florida

Former Penn State quarterback Steven Bench has decided to transfer and will land at South Florida.
Bench would normally need to sit out a year but due to the Penn State sanctions will not have to do so. He will be a sophomore in 2013.
USF is replacing four-year starter B.J. Daniels. Bench will compete for playing time this fall with senior Bobby Eveld and sophomore Matt Floyd.
A Scout.com two-star prospect from Cairo, Ga., Bench made the announcement on his Twitter feed Thursday morning.
“I’ve decided to attend the University of South Florida and become a bull!! #DoSomething” he tweeted from his account, @SBench12.

Bench appeared in two games for Penn State in 2012, completing 2 of 8 attempts. He decided to transfer after the Nittany Lions’ spring game.
“I thought that he got better throughout the spring,” Penn State coach Bill O’Brien said during a stop on the Coaches’ Caravan tour according to StateCollege.com. “And I have nothing but great things to say about him, and I felt that he still had room to get better and would still get reps here. No starter has been named, but I told him that going in that he may not get as many reps as some of the other guys but you’re still going to get reps.”
