Panthers CEO Michael Yormark works out with pro boxer

Anyone who follows Florida Panthers CEO Michael Yormark on Twitter (@PanthersYormark) knows about his intense dedication to working out.

He’s in the gym well before most of South Florida is awake, and tweets it is his best “meeting of the day.”

Yormark has even thrown out the occasional challenge to Panthers players to beat his calorie burn on the stationary bike. So it comes as little surprise Yormark recently accepted an invitation to train with  bantamweight Jessy Cruz.

“Training with a professional boxer is an incredible experience,” Yormark said. “It was awesome. I really enjoyed it.”

Yormark, 47, was a boxer in graduate school and impressed Cruz during a lengthy workout session. Cruz will be fighting Randy Caballero on a card Tuesday night at the BB&T Center in Sunrise.

“He came in with a lot of energy,” Cruz said. “Surprised me. I got to give him props.”
