Miami’s Duke Johnson named to Hornung Award watch list

The Louisville Sports Commission named Miami Hurricanes sophomore Duke Johnson to its Paul Hornung Watch List on Friday.

The 2012 ACC Rookie of the Year, Johnson amassed 2,060 all-purpose yards and 13 touchdowns during his freshman season. He broke Clinton Portis’ 13-year-old freshman rushing record with 947 yards and set a single-season record with 892 kick return yards.
Johnson was named a Preseason All-America selection at two positions by Athlon Sports. He was a first-team selection at kick returner and earned third-team honors at running back.
The Paul Hornung Award is given to the most versatile player in college football. This year’s watch list includes 19 seniors, 21 juniors and four sophomores, representing 10 conferences and 41 universities.
