Dolphins rookie Raekwon McMillan reportedly done for season with torn ACL

MIAMI (AP) -- Promising Miami Dolphins rookie linebacker Raekwon McMillan will miss the entire season with a torn ACL in his right knee, a person familiar with the situation said Friday.

The person confirmed the diagnosis to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins had not disclosed the severity of the injury. McMillan was the front-runner to win the starting job at middle linebacker until he was hurt covering a punt early in Thursday's exhibition opener against Atlanta.

McMillan was taken in the second round with the 54th overall pick in the April draft after making 275 tackles in three seasons at Ohio State.

The loss of the rookie is the latest blow for the Dolphins in an injury-filled training camp. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill suffered a knee injury that will likely sideline him for the entire season, running back Jay Ajayi is recovering from a concussion, and guard Ted Larsen will miss significant time with a torn biceps muscle.

Linebacker Koa Misi's season ended two days before the start of training camp when he was placed on injured reserve because of a lingering neck injury. With McMillan now also out, Miami is in the market to add a linebacker and shore up an area that was already thin.
