Slugger Giancarlo Stanton tied Dan Uggla’s franchise record for most home runs in a Marlins uniform with his 154th dinger Monday night.

Stanton’s solo shot to right-center field at Miller Park came on a 2-2 pitch in the third inning off Milwaukee Brewers righty Yovani Gallardo. He connected on an 88 mph slider to begin the frame, giving Miami a 5-2 lead.

It marked Stanton’s 37th of the season, which paces the National League and matches his career high set in 2012. He is considered a frontrunner alongside Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw for this year’s NL MVP award.

The two-time All-Star has played in 631 big-league games spanning parts of five big-league seasons. Uggla achieved the feat in 776 games over five years.
