TALLAHASSEE — Isaiah Jones has left the Florida State football team and will transfer, coach Jimbo Fisher announced after Friday’s practice.

He will likely land at East Mississippi Community College, Fisher said.

Jones missed the 2014 season due to academics but made the trip with the Seminoles to the Rose Bowl. He said at the time that he was a longtime FSU fan and did not want to transfer.

A native of Milton, the 6-foot-4 Jones caught two passes for 31 yards as a freshman in 2013. Jones missed the second half of the season with a foot injury.

Defensive end Chris Casher has had shoulder surgery and linebacker Matthew Thomas has a separated shoulder and will likely have surgery, Fisher said.

Casher, who played in 13 games and had two starts, had 28 tackles last season.

Thomas, who missed the first six games of 2014 due to an NCAA-related suspension, had 26 tackles in eight games.
