With time to kill, Panthers G Roberto Luongo live tweets final period of All-Star Game

If the NHL had an All-Star Game for tweeting, Florida Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo would certainly be among those chosen to participate.

Using his not-so-secret Twitter alias @Strombone1, Luongo has quickly become somewhat of a social media darling over the past few seasons thanks to a quick wit and willingness to poke fun at himself.

How popular is his account? Let’s just say that the 35-year-old netminder could tweet out a single emoji and expect at least a few hundred retweets. Not quite Justin Bieber numbers, but it’s as close as any NHL player can get it.

Luckily for fans, the NHL lifted its usual in-game social media ban for the 2015 NHL All-Star Game, giving Luongo the opportunity to share his unique brand of humor during the third period of Team Toews’ record-breaking 17-12 victory over Team Foligno on Sunday night.
