Correa clobbered Yankees pitching Thursday night. He was 2-for-3 with two RBI and belted his fifth homer of the season. The Astros star loves playing against the Bronx Bombers. In 13 career games, he’s slashing .333/.418/.708 against them with five dingers (his second most against any team) and 10 RBI. Tab him in DFS this weekend and in future matchups with the Yanks.

Is Justin Smoak finally putting it all together? He’s sporting a .274/.314/.496 batting line which is much improved over his career splits of .226/.309/.396. He’s lowered his strikeout rate from 32.8 percent last year to 21.5. He’s poked six homers and driven in 21 RBI this year for a Toronto team in desperate need of offensive production. The Blue Jays first baseman is hitting a blistering .387 with runners in scoring position.
Gyorko mashing in May
Gyorko is tearing it up in the month of May. He’s hammered his way to a seven game hitting streak including Thursday night’s 3-for-4 effort. There aren’t many holes in his game at the plate right now -- he’s hitting righties at a .363 clip and .294 against lefties. Take advantage of Gyorko’s hot streak while you can. His .424 BABIP is way above his career mark of .278, a strong indicator he’ll come back to Earth.

Feliz’s home run problems continued Thursday night against Boston. The Brewers closer fell to 0-4 after he surrendered a game-winning, three-run bomb in the top of the ninth to Mookie Betts. In 16 innings pitched Feliz has been pasted for five homers and 11 earned runs. His struggles almost surely mean his time is limited in the closer spot. Corey Knebel would be the most likely candidate to take over for Feliz if manager Craig Counsell makes the switch.
Quick Hits: Twins/White Sox
Minnesota and Chicago battled it out in their own high-scoring affair … Avisail Garcia continues to rake … he went 2-for-4 and raised his BA to .342 … Melky Cabrera led the way for the White Sox with three RBI … Twins starter Phill Hughes struggled through 4 2/3 innings after he was tagged for four earned and six hits … backup shortstop Eduardo Escobar hit his fourth tater of the year … Brian Dozier hit his fifth home run to bust a three-game hitless streak.
Vargas blanks Rays
Jason Vargas held the Rays offense in check tossing seven scoreless innings Thursday night. He allowed just three hits in his sixth quality start of the season. It was the fourth time this season the 34-year-old veteran didn’t allow a single run. His 2.0 HR/FB rate won’t last and his 3.70 xFIP would appear to back that up.
Quick Hits: Reds Bullpen
The Reds bullpen came up big with three scoreless innings in a 3-2 victory over the Giants … Cincinnati has quietly had one of the better bullpens in the majors this year … they have the third-best team ERA in the seventh inning or later at 2.76 … opposing offenses are hitting .195 against them good for second best in the league … Raisel Iglesias leads the way with seven saves, 20 strikeouts and owns a 0.93 ERA.
