Jays’ Reyes ready to return

Reyes had 10 home runs and 15 stolen bases in 93 games last season.

There’s good news and bad news from the Blue Jays, and we’ll give you the good news first. SS Jose Reyes is expected to return from his DL stint on Saturday. Reyes has been out since injuring his hamstring during his first at bat on Opening Day, and you’ll want to start him if you have him.

The Blue Jays’ website also reports that RP Casey Janssen has had his rehab assignment shut down due to a back/abdominal strain. This doesn’t sound serious, but any delay is a bad one for Janssen’s fantasy owners, and we probably won’t see him before the end of the month. Sergio Santos – who blew a save Thursday night – will continue to close for the time being.

On to the rest of the news:

Phillies SP Cole Hamels threw seven strong innings in his Thursday rehab start, and is on target to come off the DL next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez expects to play tonight after missing Thursday’s game due to a bruised hand.

Streaming starters: Edinson Volquez posted a solid line last night, raising our record to 9-8 for the season. The weekend picks are Tyson Ross (owned in 14.5 percent of FOXSports.com leagues) against the Giants on Friday; Seattle’s Roenis Elias (1.9 percent owned) at Miami on Saturday; and Rick Porcello (27 percent owned) versus the depleted Angels on Sunday.

"Fra-GEE-lay – it must be Italian!" No, it’s Royals OF Lorenzo Cain, who’s headed back to the DL with a groin strain. This would normally be a great time to pick up speedy Jarrod Dyson, but he’ll be on the bereavement list for at least the weekend. You can probably plan to see Dyson early next week, and at a 0.3 percent ownership level, he’s a nice, widely available option for steals.

Michael Bourn stole his first base of the season last night! Woo-hoo!

Koji Uehara (shoulder) was back on the hill for the Red Sox last night, earning the save. You didn’t blow any FAAB money on Ed Mujica, did you?

Nationals OF Denard Span (concussion) is expected to return to action on Saturday. Teammate Doug Fister (lat strain) could be back in about three weeks.

Cardinals SP Joe Kelly (hamstring) is on the DL. Highly-touted Carlos Martinez is one of the options to replace Kelly, according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Bernie Miklasz.

Look for Yankee closer David Robertson to come off the DL on Tuesday. Shawn Kelley has been solid in Robertson’s absence, but I don’t think Robertson’s fantasy owners need to worry.

The Rangers are hoping for a June return from 2B Jurickson Profar (shoulder).

Rockies OF Michael Cuddyer left Thursday’s game with a hamstring injury, and is day-to-day.

Padres 3B Chase Headley is day-to-day with a biceps strain, and the DL is a possibility. Headley had a pinch single on Thursday, which is a good sign.

See you back here Monday morning.
