ChiSox send Sale to DL

Sale was 11-14 with a 3.07 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP and 226 Ks last season.

White Sox SP Chris Sale has been placed on the DL with a flexor muscle strain in his left forearm. Before you start yelling, "OMG I KNEW IT HIS MECHANICS ARE AWFUL HE’S ALWAYS BEEN AN INJURY WAITING TO HAPPEN!!!," the team says that Sale’s elbow ligaments are fine, and seems to think he could be back after his 15 days are up – meaning only a couple of missed starts. Let’s hope they’re right.

On to the rest of the news:

Reds closer Aroldis Chapman is tentatively scheduled to throw batting practice on Wednesday, and could go on a rehab assignment shortly after that.

Streaming starters: Wily Peralta had a pretty good outing on Monday, raising our record to 12-9. Today’s pick is Edinson Volquez (owned in 10.5 percent of leagues) versus the Reds, while Wednesday’s selection is Miami fireballer Nathan Eovaldi (20.5 percent owned) at Atlanta. Did you know that Eovaldi has 23 strikeouts against just three walks in 25 1/3 innings? Sure, his opponents (Rockies, Padres, Phillies, Mariners) haven’t been so good, but those are impressive numbers, anyway.

Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo sprained an ankle on Monday, and will probably be out until Friday.

Rockies OF Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) is on the DL. Chris Dickerson got a start Monday in Cuddyer’s absence.

Another solid start for Mets SP Jenrry Mejia … interesting.

If you missed it, Cubs’ manager Rick Renteria said Sunday that he hopes Jose Veras can start closing games again at some point. I bet Veras’ fantasy owners would like that, too. However, the Cubs may have another closer on the horizon.

Ike Davis hit a grand slam last night. I’m back on the bandwagon!

It sounds like Yankee closer David Robertson could come off the DL any day now. K-Rob threw a bullpen session on Sunday, and says he’s ready.

Orioles SS J.J. Hardy is day-to-day with a hamstring injury.

Astros SP Scott Feldman has been placed on the DL with biceps tendinities. The team doesn’t sound too worried.

Pirates SP Wandy Rodriguez is on the DL with a knee injury.

While Lorenzo Cain is out, the Royals will go with a center-field platoon of Jarrod Dyson/Justin Maxwell. Dyson bats lefthanded, so he’ll be busier.

A’s OF Yoenis Cespedes is day-to-day with a bruised heel; he didn’t play Monday.

Frankie Rodriguez has eight saves already?

SS Chris Owings batted leadoff for the Diamondbacks last night. He’s owned in 6.3 percent of leagues, in case you need some middle-infield speed.

Reminder: Clayton Kershaw will throw a bullpen session today, and then make a rehab start on Friday if all goes well.

OF Cameron Maybin might come off the DL during the Padres’ current road trip.

See you back here tomorrow morning.
