Wings reportedly to play outdoor game in Colorado

The Red Wings might not have a player in this weekend’s All-Star Game but they will be mentioned.

According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, the NHL is going to announce this weekend that Colorado and Minnesota will get outdoor games in 2016.

McKenzie said that the Avalanche’s opponent is expected to be the Wings.

McKenzie said the Minnesota Wild’s opponent is expected to be the Chicago Blackhawks.

The two contests will be part of the NHL’s Stadium series of outdoor games.

The Winter Classic on New Year’s Day will be Montreal at Boston at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots.

The Wings’ All-Star representative, goaltender Jimmy Howard, is out with a groin injury.
