Los Angeles, CA — The strength of the USC family and Trojan tradition both took center stage on Saturday Sept. 1, 2012 at the first USC home game of the season, where Creative Productions, a marketing agency led by Trojan alumni, launched a tribute to Junior Seau, honoring him with 80,000 commemorative wristbands.
“It’s an opportunity to recognize a Trojan who was one of the greatest athletes in USC Football history,” states Deborah Golian Castro, president and CEO of Creative Productions. “The Hawaii game is the first time the Trojan family will be together to remember Junior and his contributions,” Castro continues. “Seau’s legacy is underscored by the theme Trojan Pride 55—remembering the proud tradition the number 55 represents for elite linebackers. The wristband carries the same sentiment; it’s truly a one-of-a-kind keepsake to honor Junior.”
The tribute did not end with the game. Castro and her team of creative designers, writers, web developers, and social media experts have produced a website where fans, admirers, and Trojan family paid their respects with photos, or thoughts that will forever live online.
“USC Sports Properties fully supports the idea of having a memorable giveaway as a special way to honor Junior Seau, and complements the USC Athletic Department’s plan for recognizing his legacy at the first game,” states Dan Shell, general manager of USC Sports Properties.
“The wall creates a common experience, and provides a place to respect and reflect,” explains Castro. Posts on the website will go viral through a Facebook and Twitter sign-in feature. “We encourage fans and friends to share their love for Junior.” Jose Eskenazi, associate athletic director at USC, elaborates “The Trojan family is real and that’s what makes this tribute so special. It is all about Trojan pride.”
