Tigers, Alburquerque apparently avoid arbitration

DETROIT — It appears that Tigers reliever Al Alburquerque has avoided arbitration.

According to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, Alburquerque and the Tigers agreed to a one-year contract for $1.725 million plus $12,500 if he makes 75 appearances.

Alburquerque, 28, went 3-1 with a 2.51 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 72 appearances last season. 

He allowed just 46 hits in 57 1/3 innings while striking out 63 and walking 21.

Alburquerque made $837,500 last season.
