Ryan Hollins: Honoring Joe Frazier through ‘Get Buckets’

Sunday, Aug. 25 marked two years since my teammate, friend and brother Joe Frazier was in a horrible hit-and-run motorcycle accident. It was a terrible day, and I will never forget the feeling I had when I got that phone call. For the days following the accident, many of us sat by Joe’s side hoping for a full recovery, but he remains in a coma. He has gone home to his mom’s house in Pasadena, and while we continue to wait we keep him in our thoughts and hearts.

I’ve known Joe since our days at John Muir High School in Pasadena, where he was a great basketball player. He played at Cal State Northridge after that, and he also was an assistant coach at Calabasas High School before his accident. Joe also helped out at my summer camp, and we still honor him and his motto of “Get Buckets” at the camp.

For our second episode of the camp recap series we highlighted Joe and the #GETBUCKETS mantra.
