Harbaugh takes Michigan football to Twitter
Jim Harbaugh has already made one major change to the Michigan football program.
He’s taken it to Twitter.
Harbaugh, who was active on social media during his coaching career at Stanford, started his new account (@CoachJim4UM) Friday afternoon.
Doors are open at Schembechler Hall. Look forward to getting knee-to-knee with the current team. Players, stop by and say hi!

Harbaugh’s first tweet on the new account was about UM football, but according to the San Francisco Chronicle, he covered a wide-ranging array of topics while at Stanford. He expressed his love for Hootie and the Blowfish, ranked his favorite TV shows ("The Rockford Files" came out on top) and movies — he’s a huge Denzel Washington fan.
He gave advice to Easter-egg hunters — "Think like the egg. Where would you hide if you were an egg?" — and even wished for a new assistant coach.
"Jack Bauer would make the perfect football coach. Unfortunately, overqualified and fictional."
Harbaugh already has more than 30,000 followers on Twitter, and is following the official accounts of Michigan’s other sports teams.
