Michigan’s Walton uncertain for game with Spartans
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan is taking a wait-and-see approach with point guard Derrick Walton heading into Sunday’s showdown with rival Michigan State.
The Michigan sophomore has been dealing with toe problems and didn’t play in Tuesday’s victory over Nebraska. Coach John Beilein said Saturday that Walton’s play has been limited, and the team will see what happens Sunday. Beilein says tests were initially inconclusive, and sitting Walton for an extended period is an option.
Walton is averaging 10.7 points and 33.3 minutes a game. Michigan already is without guard Caris LeVert, who is out for the season with a foot injury.
