Lions sign first-round pick Eric Ebron

Eric Ebron, the Detroit Lions’ first-round draft choice, confirmed Friday on Twitter that he signed his four-year rookie contract.

Ebron, selected 10th overall, posted a photo of himself signing the contract with the following message: "Done Deal! I Am Officially a Detroit Lion."

Ebron, who had 62 receptions for 973 yards and three touchdowns last season at North Carolina, projects as a hybrid tight end/receiver in the NFL.

He’s 6-foot-4, 250 pounds and expected to give the Lions another down-field pass-catching threat to go with Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate.

Ebron impressed Lions veteran tight end Brandon Pettigrew with his approach during the team’s recently completed offseason practice and workout program.

"He’s a quick learner," Pettigrew said. "Great route runner. A savvy young player. He’s going to make some big plays, there’s no doubt about that.

"Everybody sees that. He comes right in, fits right in with the veteran guys. He’s going to be a good fit for us."
