UCLA linebacker Steve Sloan has a chipped bone in his right knee, but is expected to play against California on Saturday.
Sloan, a junior, had continuing soreness in the knee after the Washington State game and underwent an MRI on Tuesday. He is a key reserve and special-team player and is expected to continuing playing unless the damage requires surgery.
The Bruins appear less fortunate when it comes to free safety Dalton Hilliard, who separated his shoulder against Washington State. He is doubtful for this week’s game.
Hilliard is the backup to Rahim Moore, but has seen significant time as a nickel back this season. Stan McKay has worked with the second-team defense in Hilliard
